Community Survey Question 18 and 19: What is your main source of local news/info/upcoming events

I’m a communications person, and at its essence, the Wellness Almanac has really been a communications strategy. It was originally a piece of a larger social strategy, that also had a community engagement component – a Steering Committee of people working on social services, sharing and supporting each other in regular meetings, an annual Wellness Fair, other events to bring people together. As these things fell away, what remained was the communications strategy… It would be good to have the larger social strategy revived.

I was curious, from a communications point of view, where people get their new and information from. What channels do we use and rely on? How do we stay up to date? I’ve been in meetings where community organisations have shared their struggles with spreading the word about events or offerings – how to reach everyone?

Word of mouth from friends, Facebook and the Pique were the top sources.

Email newsletters from organizations was a reliable source for over a third of survey respondents.

We asked, which ones do you subscribe to?

Thanks to these organisations for doing such a great job in outreach, and trying to keep the community informed and connected. These are all sources the Wellness Almanac has relied on over the years, to uplift and share community happenings. We encourage you to subscribe and follow yourselves.
